Det er lett å la seg rive med i en stadig mer polarisert og tabloid debatt i etterkant av terroren i Paris. Men vi har ikke absolutt ytringsfrihet – den er i norsk lov avgrenset blant annet av retten til privatliv, samt forbudene mot å fremsette trusler, ærekrenkelser, diskriminerende og hatefulle ytringer, se blant annet straffeloven § 000a. Og dette er ikke tiden eller anledningen for politisk populisme.

" It's easy to get carried away in an increasingly polarized and tabloid debate in the aftermath of the terror in Paris. But we do not have absolute freedom of speech - it's in Norwegian law defined inter alia the right to privacy, as well as prohibitions against filing intimidation, defamation, discrimination and hate speech, see including the Penal Code § 000a. And this is not the time or the occasion for political populism.
